Message from Mrs Haggett

What a busy and exciting week it's been! We're sure many of you have already seen your child's best smile, as the school photo proofs were sent home this week. Please take a look and order your photos directly through Tempest. We  loved hearing all the stories from the children about the fun and fireworks they enjoyed for Bonfire Night. Speaking of festive cheer, our annual Christmas Jumper and coat  appeal officially launched today; please bring all pre-loved coats and jumpers to the School Office. A quick reminder: Monday 10th November,is an INSET day, so the school will be closed to all pupils. We hope you all have a wonderful, relaxing weekend and we look forward to seeing the children back in school at 8:45am on Tuesday 11th November!

🌟 The True Meaning of Inclusion: A Parent's Perspective

What does inclusion truly look like in 2025? As parents, our experiences with Special Educational Needs (SEN) can vary widely, from challenging moments to wonderfully supportive ones. For our children, the journey often highlights just how important true acceptance is.

Recently, one of our parents shared a difficult moment when their daughter with SEN was openly called "weird" by other children at a local park. This highlights the crucial work we still need to do in fostering empathy and understanding.

However, a beautiful moment of genuine inclusion followed shortly after. The parent shared this photo and story:

The picture above captures a truly massive moment for my child and me - a moment of inclusion and acceptance. My daughter, who has SEN, actively wanted to be close to and play alongside some older girls from Co-op Academy Woodslee. These girls knew her by name and were simply wonderful. To many, it might look like four girls sitting on a bench, but to me, it was everything.

Well done to the parents and to Co-op Academy Woodslee for instilling such kindness.

This is what we strive for: creating a world where every child is known, accepted, and included. These positive interactions are a credit to the entire community.

Co-op Warm Winter Campaign

This winter, the Co-op is supporting the Warm Welcome Campaign’s 100% pledge ensuring that everyone in the UK can access a Warm Welcome Space within 30 minutes of their home. Last year alone, 5,300 spaces hosted 2.6 million visits—offering vital support and a sense of belonging when it’s needed most. We want to encourage more places to register as these spaces offer more than just warmth—they provide connection, friendship, support, and opportunities to learn and grow. Click here to Find a space

🕊️ Honouring Remembrance Day

We warmly invite all our families and community members to join us for a special Remembrance Day Service at St. Barnabas Church on Sunday 10th November, at 10:00am. This is an important occasion for us to pause, reflect, and honour the sacrifices made by so many. We would be delighted to see as many children as possible attend and encourage all pupils to wear their school uniform with pride for the service. Please note that children who are taking part in the readings have already received a separate letter with specific details. We look forward to sharing this respectful and meaningful time together. 🌺

🏫 Why Attendance Matters

Consistent attendance is one of the most crucial factors in your child's success at school. Every day counts! When pupils are in class regularly, they don't miss key lessons, feel more confident in their learning, and build stronger relationships with their peers and teachers. Good attendance helps maintain a routine that supports emotional well-being and academic progress, ensuring your child has the best opportunity to reach their full potential. Let's continue to work together to prioritise being in school on time, every day, ready to learn. If your child is going to be absent, please phone the school office to let us know how they are and if there is anything we can help with.

💻 Code Club Comes to Wallasey Library!

Is your child interested in computers, gaming, or how apps are made?

Coming up- Active Travel Week: Let's Get Moving!

The week commencing Monday 17th November is our Active Travel Week, and we're encouraging all our pupils to ride, scoot, or stride to school! On Friday 21st November, we will be holding our annual Bling Your Ride day where you will be invited to decorate your bike, scooter or trainers to parade around our school.

Getting to school actively is a brilliant way to:

  • Boost your energy for a day of learning.

  • Help the environment by reducing car journeys.

  • Have fun with friends and family before school starts!

Important: Park & Stride

We know that many of our families live too far away to walk the whole distance to Woodslee, and that's okay!

If you usually drive, we encourage you to try our 'Park & Stride' approach. Instead of driving all the way to the school gates, please park a little further away from school (safely, of course!) and walk the rest of the way with your child. Even a 5 or 10-minute walk makes a big difference!
