Message from Mrs Haggett

Newsletter Message from Mrs. Haggett

What a joy it was to see our school illuminated in yellow as the children celebrated Children in Need Day! Our pupils engaged wonderfully in activities designed to encourage them to 'Show You Care' and 'Do What Matters Most'—lessons that resonate far beyond the classroom.

This week also saw an important step taken regarding the pressing issue of parking and road safety around our school grounds. I was pleased to hold a productive meeting dedicated to discussing sustainable solutions to this matter. We had excellent representation from key stakeholders, including Justin Madders, MP, local residents, police representatives, Parent Governor, Council reps, and our Senior Leadership Team (SLT). By working together as a community, we are hopeful that we can find a lasting solution to improve safety for all.

Finally, thank you for your continued patience and understanding regarding the road closure currently impacting access outside the school. Major gasworks are being undertaken, and your cooperation during this necessary disruption is greatly appreciated.

W meets Justin Madders??

W’s mum was in Parliament on Tuesday with MP Justin Madders ????, who came to support an important PKU event about new treatments ??.

She was able to share, from the heart, just how tough the current treatment is – especially the strict low-protein diet W has to follow every single day ?????. It’s even harder knowing that effective medications exist but still aren’t available on the NHS ????. Justin spent a great deal of time listening to her and to the NSPKU charity, really taking in the challenges families face ??. He even mentioned he’d be visiting Woodslee the next day to look into our parking issues ??.

While he was at Woodslee, he met W herself ??. They talked about the challenges she faces living with PKU — and he saw first hand just how brave, strong, and resilient she truly is ???

Christmas Shopping Trip

Do you want to go Christmas shopping but have no way of getting there? We’ve got you covered!

On Wednesday 26th November, we will be taking 15 parents to Broughton shopping park for a day of Christmas shopping.

We will be leaving at 9.30am and return when we are finished before the end of the school day.

Due to the limited spaces available, we will be prioritising parents who do not drive. If you have a car and would like to come along, you are very welcome to join and meet us there!

These are on a first come, first serve basis. If you are interested, please contact the school office.

Happy shopping! ??

Co-op Warm Winter Campaign

This winter, the Co-op is supporting the Warm Welcome Campaign’s 100% pledge ensuring that everyone in the UK can access a Warm Welcome Space within 30 minutes of their home. Last year alone, 5,300 spaces hosted 2.6 million visits—offering vital support and a sense of belonging when it’s needed most. We want to encourage more places to register as these spaces offer more than just warmth—they provide connection, friendship, support, and opportunities to learn and grow. Click here to Find a space

Baby Meila comes to visit

Woodslee had a very special visitor this week????

We were thrilled to welcome Mrs Keenan and her beautiful baby Meila into school to meet the team. It was such a joy to see them both — what a lovely way to brighten our day!

Why Attendance Matters

Consistent attendance is one of the most crucial factors in your child's success at school. Every day counts! When pupils are in class regularly, they don't miss key lessons, feel more confident in their learning, and build stronger relationships with their peers and teachers. Good attendance helps maintain a routine that supports emotional well-being and academic progress, ensuring your child has the best opportunity to reach their full potential. Let's continue to work together to prioritise being in school on time, every day, ready to learn. If your child is going to be absent, please phone the school office to let us know how they are and if there is anything we can help with.
