Reminder of our new School Day Hours:

New School Day Hours (from September):

• Start: 8:45 AM

• Finish: 3:15 PM

Arrival and Dismissal Arrangements:

EYFS and KS1 pupils will arrive and be dismissed onto the KS1 playground.
KS2 pupils will use the KS2 playground for arrival and dismissal.
Families with children in both key stages will have a five minute window to allow for smooth drop-off and pick-up across both playgrounds.

Please note that Birch times are slightly different:

Beyond the Bell Wraparound

As we return to school, we have opened our dates for Breakfast & After School club for our current pupils. New pupils who require club in the first week of term will need to contact Miss Lucy to arrange booking a space via email please at wsle-beyondthebell@coopacademies.co.uk or whatsapp 07808248556. Breakfast club opens 7.30 am on Wednesday 1st September. We cant wait for a whole new year of fun together.

This includes, but is not limited to, peanuts, tree nuts (such as almonds, cashews, walnuts, hazelnuts, pistachios, Brazil nuts, pecans, macadamia nuts), nut butters (like peanut butter or cashew butter), and foods that may contain nuts as an ingredient (e.g., some granolas, snack bars, chocolates, nutella spread and baked goods).

Dear Families,

Change to the School Day

I hope this message finds you well. We are writing to inform you that, starting from September, the structure of our school day for our mainstream children will be changing slightly. This adjustment brings us in line with the standard model used by many primary schools across the country.

New School Day Hours (from September):

• Start: 8:45 AM

• Finish: 3:15 PM

As we wrap up an amazing school year, we just wanted to send out a huge thank you to all our fantastic parents, guardians, and especially our brilliant pupils! What a year it's been – full of incredible learning, awesome achievements, and all the fun that makes our Woodslee community so special.

Your support for your child's learning really means the world to us, and it's definitely helped them shine this year. And to all our pupils, you've been absolutely amazing – showing so much growth, sticking with it, and bringing such great energy every day. We're super proud of each and every one of you!

We hope you all have a truly fantastic holiday break, packed with relaxation, laughter, and wonderful times with family and friends. We can't wait to welcome you back after the holidays, all refreshed and ready for another exciting year of adventures together.

Teen memberships at Leisure centres - Great way to keep teens occupied this summer holiday - For £17.50 teens can access unlimited swims, including unlimited use of tag active, gym and classes for one month this summer. There are also the 'Wings & Creation' workshops (making a Butterfly feeder and some nature-themed craft) in the libraries (booking essential) as part of the Wild About Nature Campaign, and Rock Painting in the meadow at Wirral Country Park (which also includes a sweep of the meadow to see what insects use the meadow, and then they finish with a story in the meadow too. Chester Zoo has a mini ranger’s holiday club on a Sunday during term time. The last date is the 13^th July and then it’s not available until September. It's £12 per child from 9:30am to midday. After School Club will be closed on Friday 18th July. All children to be collected at their normal collection time by 3:30pm.

Walker Art Gallery Trip: Year 3 Explores Art & Myth

Year 3 had a wonderful time on their trip to the Walker Art Gallery! The children explored a range of incredible artwork and took part in an engaging, creative workshop where they imagined and created their own endings to a Greek myth. They represented the school beautifully with their enthusiasm and excellent behaviour – well done, Year 3!

R told us that this Allosaurus chomps on sticks and then spits them out. He came into creation completely independently- no adult support at all!
Isn’t he fabulous!

A Day of Fun and Friendship: Reception Teams Up!

Reception (F2) had the BEST day! It was brilliant to join up with their friends from Co-op Academy Portland and Co-op Academy Hillside and share the experience together.

Every Friday until the end of term is a non-uniform day. We are kindly asking for donations towards our summer fayre.

We loved coming together at St. Barnabas, Bromborough to celebrate another successful year at Co-op Academy Woodslee.

We took the opportunity to thank those that have helped us along the way and wish those that are leaving us a fond farewell

Exciting news…our Summer Camp bookings are OPEN

Sessions are open for all families between Monday 21st July - Friday 15th August. Club is open 8:30am - 4pm and children will require a packed lunch, water bottle & a change of clothes!

We’ve a summer of fun planned and can’t wait to spend quality time with you all.

Book via your SCOPAY app.

We have secured funding for our holiday club This means that anyone who is in receipt of free school meals can apply for a place at our holiday club this summer. If you wish to apply - please email Miss Lucy at wsle-beyondthebell@coopacademies.co.uk or WhatsApp 07808248556 by FRIDAY 11th JULY.

Our funded sessions are 10am-2pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

All other sessions must be also booked by Friday 11th July to secure place

RockSteady Concert

We’re delighted to confirm your Summer Rocksteady concert is taking place at 14:00 on 17/07/2025. We look forward to seeing all parents/carers of these fab children to come and watch.

Follow NHS advice for any mild illnesses.

Promote good hand hygiene with your children.

Liaise with the Early Help team who will support you as a family.

Speak to your child’s teacher as a collaborative approach is essential

If your child is absent from school, you must inform the school office by 9am of the reason for absence.

The school office opens at 8:20am and closes at 3:45pm. We will be closed for lunch daily from 12:30 to 1:00 PM.

Years 1 and 2: 3.20pm
Years 3, 4, 5 and 6: 3.30pm

Football Not Allowed Before School for Safety and Supervision Reasons

A reminder we are a nut free school!

Please wear PE kits on your PE day (no own clothes). Our Woodslee uniform colours will be suitable. If you struggle to obtain a PE kit, please let the Office know and we will help support.

On all other days, the expectation is full school uniform.

MATHS OLYMPICS

Congratulations to the maths superstars from Woodslee for representing your school at the Co-op Academies Maths Olympics event in Manchester yesterday! It's fantastic to hear the children had such a great time competing with and against their friends from Co-op Academy Hillside and Co-op Academy Portland. Well done to everyone involved!

Exciting SENDCO Appointments at Wirral Co-op Primaries

Can we please introduce to you our new Wirral Co-op Sendcos.

Miss Bostock will be taking up the post at Hillside, Mrs Hayes at Portland and Miss Ball at Woodslee.

The team will be starting their new roles this September and will be led by Ms Bergman. We are excited for the new academic year

Well done to Year 6 who last week brought the car wash to Woodslee Thanks to all who trusted them to wash your cars! They did a fantastic job and even had some time at the end for a water fight

Fizz, Pop, and Balloons: Year 5 Explores Irreversible Reactions!

Year 5 enjoyed learning about irreversible reactions in Science today. We mixed bicarbonate of soda and vinegar and watched as the balloons filled up with carbon dioxide

Budding Scientists: Year 5's Water Purification Adventure!

Year 5 had a fantastic time blending learning and fun at the River Alyn today! Our budding scientists designed and built their very own water purification systems, then put them to the test in a friendly competition to see whose system could produce the cleanest water.

Every Friday until the end of term is a non-uniform day. We are kindly asking for donations towards our summer fayre. Please bring the following -

27th June - Bring a bottle! Please bring a bottle of wine, prosecco, spirits, beer, shampoo, bubble bath etc.

4th July - Bric a brac, teddies, toys, books, kids clothes, tombola donations.

11th July - cakes, biscuits, cheesecakes, tiffins.

The school office opens at 8:20am and closes at 3:45pm. We will be closed for lunch daily from 12:30 to 1:00 PM.

Our Woodslee garden is blooming with plants and produce. Police Horses Visit Woodslee for WOW Week!

Did anyone see two enormous police horses trotting around the streets of Brombrough this morning?

The mounted police officers parked their massive vehicle in a safe place off site and then made their way to Woodslee. It was a very impressive sight!

As part of WoW week, our special guests came to tell the children all about their jobs. We couldn’t resist a pat and snuggle!

Milking It! Year 4 Visits Müller Farm!

Today, Year 4 had the exciting opportunity to visit Huntington Farm Hall, a Müller dairy farm that supplies millions of gallons of milk across the country! This invaluable outdoor learning experience significantly deepened the children's understanding of the world of farming, inspiring some to even declare it their future career.

Unmasking Careers: Year 6's Inspirational WOW Week!

Yesterday, our Year 6 World of Work (WOW) week launched with great excitement! A fantastic group of volunteers, disguised in everyday clothes, challenged our children to guess their professions by asking a series of clever questions. These guests were truly inspirational, and we're incredibly grateful for them dedicating their time.

Can you guess who's who? Among our visitors, we had an A&E doctor, a KC barrister, an entrepreneur, a lawyer, and an adult support worker.

Thank you for all the lovely comments on social media about our great team! We appreciate all your feedback.

Woodslee's Future Workforce: Interview Day Success!

The children spent the morning researching and applying for a job here at Woodslee. In the afternoon, they were interviewed for it, giving them crucial experience that will serve them well in the future.

HUGE thanks to our amazing volunteers, Mr and Mrs Kaney, Dr Suse and Katie for telling us all about their jobs for giving up their time to support us with the interviews.

We just could not be prouder of these absolute superstars for representing us at the Co-op Academy Trust annual poetry festival held at the Co-op HQ in Manchester. They only went and WON the best group performance category.

We absolutely love celebrating our pupils' amazing achievements outside of school! A massive well done to our little "pocket rocket" who just earned this incredible, HUGE medal in martial arts! What an outstanding accomplishment!

A Fin-tastic Story & Real Fish in F2!

Our F2 class has been enchanted by a new story, 'The Fish Who Could Wish'! The children were thrilled when Miss Lindsay brought in her own fish, inspiring them to write about their observations and even predict what magical adventures lie ahead in the tale. Special Announcement

I am writing to share some important news regarding a valued member of our school community. Our SENDCO and Deputy Headteacher, Leanne McGowan, has recently been appointed as the new Head of School at The Observatory School. This is a fantastic opportunity for Mrs McGowan and a well-deserved recognition of her dedication, skill, and leadership.

Mrs McGowan has been an integral part of our team, and her work has made a lasting impact on the children, families, and colleagues she has supported. Her commitment to inclusive education and her advocacy for pupils with additional needs have shaped a nurturing and supportive environment that we will always be grateful for.

Mrs McGowan will be leaving us at the end of this academic year to take up her new role. While we will all miss her deeply, we are incredibly proud of her achievement and wish her every success in this exciting next chapter of her career.

We are currently in the process of recruiting a new SENDCO and will ensure a smooth transition so that our pupils and families continue to receive the support they need.

Please join me in congratulating Leanne and thanking her for the wonderful contribution she has made to our school.

Our Year 5/6 dodgeball team hit the road this morning for a multi-school tournament at Activity For All! It was incredible to witness their outstanding sportsmanship, brilliant team spirit, and fierce desire to win. While we didn't clinch the tournament title, they proudly earned a certificate for their fantastic efforts.

How can I improve my children’s attendance?

Follow NHS advice for any mild illnesses.

Promote good hand hygiene with your children.

Liaise with the Early Help team who will support you as a family.

Speak to your child’s teacher as a collaborative approach is essential

Noticeboard

If your child is absent from school, you must inform the school office by 9am of the reason for absence.

The school office opens at 8:20am and closes at 3:45pm. We will be closed for lunch daily from 12:30 to 1:00 PM.

Football Not Allowed Before School for Safety and Supervision Reasons

A reminder we are a nut free school!

Please wear PE kits on your PE day (no own clothes). Our Woodslee uniform colours will be suitable. If you struggle to obtain a PE kit, please let the Office know and we will help support.

On all other days, the expectation is full school uniform.

These two superstars were awarded certificates for being regulars at our library this term. They just LOVE reading!

Our library is open after school every Monday and is run by our fabulous volunteers from Bromborough Loves Books.

It was wonderful to welcome so many parents to our Early Years Stay and Play session! We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed exploring our beautiful indoor-outdoor environment together.

Holiday club is back! We are closed bank holiday Monday and open Tuesday-Friday from 8:30am-4pm

Annual Careers Fair

We are holding our annual Careers Fair on Friday 4th July. We would like it to be bigger and better than ever, so we really need your help! IThe fair will be for Year 5 and Year 6 children between 2:00-3:00pm and then open to all families between 3:00-4:00pm.

If you, or anyone you know, would be able to run a stall please get in touch with the school office. Please do not think your job isn't interesting or important… believe me when I say that it really is!

Message from Sarah Armstrong Art

Hello

I am a local artist and parent. While looking at extra curricular activities for my own children I have noticed the severe lack of offerings for creative children. Wanting to change that, I have launched a couple of introductory classes for primary school aged children. I am DBS checked, safeguarding for out of school clubs certified and hold public liability insurance. I am also a mum of three.

Dont forget our Community Shop is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Our Natterbox sessions take place every other week. Dont forget to check out our Facebook for an update on the next session coming up!
